April 2, 2020 by T3 India

After postponing the initial launch date of March 29, Disney is about to launch its online streaming platform, Disney+, in India on April 3, 2020. The service would be operational on Hotstar and has been rebranded as Disney+ Hotstar. Disney+ was launched internationally in November 2019 and as its initial launch had been pushed back indefinitely due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, we know that many around in their homes will be glad to find out that soon they can access all the new Disney shows and movies.

As a starter, Hotstar is also offering a virtual “Red Carpet Premiere” of Disney’s live-action adaptation of the classic The Lion King at 6 p.m. on Disney+ Hotstar, followed by the highly-awaited Star Wars spin-off, The Mandalorian.

With Disney+ added into it numerous list of services, Hotstar has also increased its subscription prices. Operating on two subscription plans, Hotstar has now increased its VIP plan prices from Rs. 365/year to Rs. 399/year; and its Premium subscription plan’s prices have increased from Rs.999/year to Rs. 1,499/year.

Staying at home today is tantamount to saving lives and plays a huge role in helping humanity fight against the coronavirus pandemic. Never before has streaming shows and movies and lazying around at home been so important and we need all the content out there.
