The rugged and robust Huami Amazfit T-Rex is now available in India and it’s price tag doesn’t put a big dent in one’s account as well. Priced at Rs. 9,999, the T-Rex is compatible with iOS and Android and the smartwatch has a 1.3” AMOLED display offering a 360×360 resolution capable of displaying 16.7 million colours.
The display is also armed with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and an anti-fingerprint coating. Passing the 12 regulations of military standard quality tests – MIL-STD-810 – does give some assurance on the T-Rex’s durability and robustness. Huami also claims that ‘the T-Rex is built to withstand extreme temperatures as well as damp, salt and any challenging outdoor conditions, surviving for two hours under rapid temperature change from -40 to 70 degrees C.
Smartwatches have become health data-tracking heavyweights and the T-Rex is similar to other Huami Amazfit watches as it features 14 sport modes and a BioTracker PPG optical sensor which helps track performances through monitoring the data such as heart rate and exercise duration statistics of diverse activities. The sensor also monitors the heart rate all-day long and also sends reminders if the user has been inactive for long, or warnings if the heart-rate is abnormal.
The Amazfit T-Rex features an impressive 20-day battery life through a 390mAh battery, if used conservatively and wisely. It has an option where the display can stay on until turned off and also has many watch faces to choose from. It hosts a 28mm Sony GPS chip that works for a period of up to 20 hours straight and a sleep monitoring sensor also tracks the quality of the user’s sleep.
The sweat-absorbent silicone strap is definitely a plus for those who work out regularly. One can choose from over 30 watch faces and the T-Rex can also control the music on one’s phone through Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity. Besides, the Amazfit T-Rex can also perform basic functions like providing notifications for calls, messages, of apps, calendars, and more. It also hosts a ‘Find my phone’ function.
