Samsung Galaxy Note 8 fully revealed

August 24, 2017 by Ankush Mahajan

Samsung unveiled the successor to the explosive Note 7 at an event in New York recently. The company wants the flagship Galaxy Note 8 to be a comeback of sorts to regain their lost goodwill.

The Note 8 sports an Always On 6.3″ QuadHD+ AMOLED Infinite display with a resolution of 1440×2960. It is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with India most probably receiving the equivalent Exynos variant if the S8 and S8+ are any indication. It packs in 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage expandable via microSD and a 3300mAh battery.

The signature S Pen accessory has been enhanced with a finer tip, improved pressure sensitivity and new features like live messages that let users share animated texts or drawings across platforms supporting GIFs 4. Translate lets users hover over text to quickly translate sentences in around 71 languages as well as instantly convert units and foreign currencies. Screen off memo allows users to take upto 100 pages of notes, pin notes and even make edits directly from the Always On Display.

Coming to the cameras, it sports a dual 12MP rear setup with Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS) including one f/1.7 wide angle lens and another f/2.4 telephoto lens. On the front is a single 8MP lens with f/1.7 aperture. It supports wireless charging, the latest Bluetooth v5.0 standard and packs in a USB Type-C port. The device also offers IP68 water and dust resistance. Samsung has gone the whole hog and included an iris scanner, fingerprint scanner, facial recognition and pattern/pin/password lock.

While the Indian price has yet to be revealed, pre-orders abroad come with a free Gear 360 camera or charging bundle for free. An additional discount is also being provided to existing Note 7 customers. The device comes in 4 colours displayed below.

Maple Gold
Deepsea Blue
Midnight Black
Orchid Gray
