Xiaomi introduces Redmi 6 series in India

September 8, 2018 by T3 Online

Xiaomi has been aggressively expanding its lineup in the Indian market and the latest to join are the Redmi 6 trio – Redmi 6A, Redmi 6 and the Redmi 6 Pro. Interestingly, the Redmi 6A and the Redmi 6 are powered by MediaTek’s 12nm processor while the Redmi 6 Pro is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625.

The Redmi 6 features a polycarbonate back panel with an arc design that gives the phone a good handfeel. Hardware-wise, the Redmi 6 comes with a 5.45-inch 18:9 HD+ display, Helio P22 octa-core SoC that improves performance and is power efficient compared to 28nm chipsets, 3GB RAM, 32GB or 64GB internal storage and dual 12MP+5MP cameras at the back supporting AI, EIS and phase-detection autofocus.

Redmi 6 runs Oreo-based MIUI 9.6 and will sell for Rs. 7,999 and Rs. 9,499 for the first two months.

Redmi 6A is the cheapest of the lot that builds on last year’s super successful Redmi 5A. The Redmi 6A has a design similar and display as Redmi 6 but is powered by MediaTek’s A22 SoC, 2GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB internal storage. It has a 13MP camera with PDAF and EIS with 5MP front-facing camera, Face Unlock, dual-SIM support with dedicated microSD card slot and dual VoLTE.

The Redmi 6A is priced at Rs. 5,999 for the 16GB variant and 6,999 for the 32GB variant for the first two months.

The Redmi 6 Pro is the top-of-the-line device in this trifecta with metal body and the smarts handled by Qualcomm’s tried-and-tested Snapdragon 625 processor. It comes with 3GB or 4GB of RAM options along with 32GB or 64GB storage, 5.84-inch Full HD+ display, 12MP+5MP dual rear cameras, 5MP front-facing camera, dual-SIM and dedicated microSD card slot, fingerprint sensor, face unlock and 4000mAh battery.

The Redmi 6 Pro will sell for Rs. 10,999 for 3GB+32GB variant and Rs. 12,999 for 4GB+64GB.
