Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 officially launched

March 3, 2016 by Ankush Mahajan

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi officially launched the Redmi Note 3 today in India. The 2GB RAM/16GB model costs Rs 9,999 and the 3GB/32GB variant is priced at Rs 11,999 available in three colours, Silver, Gold and Dark Gray.

Changes in the Indian edition were made with the feedback of 100 fans, dubbed ‘explorers’ and selected through a contest, who were each given a unit of the Note 3 for a month. Their testing data helped Xiaomi implement various tweaks and make modifications shown through the addition of a larger battery, better camera and more powerful processor.

Redmi Note 3 is the world’s first device to be equipped with the hexacore Snapdragon 650 processor composed of 2 x A72 and 4 x A53 Cortex cores. The camera features PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus), which helps with quick focusing and Local Tone Mapping that automatically adjusts contrast levels in the image. The 4,050mAh battery supports Qualcomm Quick Charge technology, which can charge up to 50 per cent in one hour and complete a full charge in three hours.

The smartphone is manufactured in India as part of the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

Starting from 9 March at 2 pm, the Redmi Note 3 will be sold on the Mi store and Amazon exclusively for a limited period thereafter it will be available across all major offline and online retailers.

Registration for the phone has already begun on the Mi webstore.
