Xiaomi unveils world’s first mass-produced transparent TV

August 19, 2020 by T3 India

Xiaomi went all-out during its 10-year anniversary launch event where along with the launch of the Mi 10 Ultra and the Redmi K30 Ultra, the incredibly-appealing TV Lux Transparent Edition was announced too.

The incredible feature about the Mi TV Lux is that when it is turned off, it becomes transparent and it displays images, thus making it seem like a glass display. Along with performing other functions that are expected out of today’s smart TVs, the Mi TV Lux offers aesthetically pleasing features that with a state-of-the-art transparent display, it seems to add nothing but class to one’s home décor. Xiaomi mentioned that ‘the pictures it displays seem to be floating in the air, merging the virtual and the real to bring an unprecedented visual experience’.

The Mi TV Lux has a minimalist design but consists of flagship features. It boasts of a 5.7mm ultra-thin body, with a 55” transparent OLED panel and a round base. The 10-bit display panel features a 150000:1 static contrast ratio and can generate 1.07 billion colour combinations. The Mi Lux TV offers a refresh rate of 120Hz and it also comes with the MEMC technology which helps smooth viewing.

Apart from being powered by the MediaTek 9650 custom-made TV chip, the transparent TV also features the AI Master Smart Engine and AI Master for Audio which helps the TV calibrate on its own to create vivid pictures and choose an appropriate audio mode based on the content that is being viewed. It also has Dolby Atmos.

The Mi TV Lux runs on the MIUI which is customized for the TV. Xiaomi claims that the UI ‘is specifically designed to better demonstrate the visual features and strength of the transparent screen, creating a unique user experience.’

The Mi TV Lux is truly a technological marvel which also serves as an aesthetic and artistic display. The TV’s launch in India is still not yet announced and frankly, we’re not sure if they will launch here too. For more information, please visit this page.
